MARKET LAMBS

No feed is allowed to remain in the lamb barn. Sand bedding is allowed. Be prepared to muzzle lambs.
1. Entry Fee: $10.00 per head
2. Breed classes (Fine Wool, Freckled Face, Southdown & Blackface) will require a minimum of six animals to make a breed class.
3. Classes will be determined by Lamb Superintendent. All classifications are final.
4. Any animal shown in this department must continuously have been owned & personally cared for by the exhibitor since June 1 of current year.
5. No artificial colors allowed.
6. Only wethers and ewe lambs may be exhibited in Market Lamb Classes. Market lambs may be purchased or bred by participant. Only lambs (animals under one year of age) are eligible to show in the Junior Market Classes. Market Lambs must show milk teeth.
7. Minimum weight for lambs is 80 pounds. (Southdown is 70 pounds) No maximum weight
8. Medication: As described in Rule # 19 of General Livestock Rules Rules.
9. Health Requirements & Inspection Procedure:
A. All Market Lambs will be shorn (to a uniform length of ¼” of wool) prior to check in.
B. Sheep with ringworm lesions will be denied entrance to the fairgrounds. However, sheep hauled on the same trailer will be allowed to show.
C. Lambs must also be free of scabies, sore mouth, and foot rot and other contagious diseases or will not be allowed to show.
D. No active lesions of trichophyton (Club Lamb Fungus).

11. Market animals will be released on Saturday at 4:00 pm.
12. A cleaning fee of $25.00 will be assessed to exhibitor for unclean stalls.
13. Deadline for disposition of sale lamb is 30 minutes after lamb showmanship.
14. Lambs must be weighed and in place by Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Weigh backs for animals that did not make weight must be done by 9:00 am Thursday.

COUNTY BRED LAMBS
Superintendent: Shelby Saulsberry
This class shall consist of qualified junior market lambs that have been bred on a ranch all or partially located in Catron County.
1. Entry Fee $10.00 per head.
2. Must be entered in the regular lamb show and adhere to all market lamb rules
3. Grand Champion County Bred will not get to sell another animal.
4. Lambs must be weighed in and in place by Wednesday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Weigh backs for animals that did not make weight must be done by 9:00 am on Thursday.
COUNTY BRED LAMB PREMIUMS

MARKET GOAT
Superintendent: Mackenzie Baldridge

No feed is allowed to remain in the goat barn. Sand bedding is allowed. Be prepared to muzzle goats.
1. Entry Fee: $10.00 per head
2. Classes will be determined by the Goat Superintendent.
3. Any animal shown in this department must continuously have been owned and personally cared for by the exhibitor since June 1 of current year.
4. Goats may be washed, blown, dressed prior to judging. Absolutely no artificial coloring will be allowed. NO EXCEPTIONS.
5. Only wethers or does under one year of age may be exhibited in Market Goat Classes. Market Goats may be purchased or bred by participant. Market Goats must show milk teeth.
6. Minimum weight for Goats is 60 pounds. No maximum weight.
7. Goats must be shown with collars or halters.
8. Medications: As described in Rule #19 of General Livestock Rules.
9. Health Requirements & Inspection Procedures:
A- All Market Goats will be slick shorn (to a uniform length no more than ½”of hair) prior to arrival at the fair.
B- Goats must also be free of scabies, sore mouth, and foot rot and other contagious diseases or will not be allowed to show.
C- Goat horns must be tipped and no smaller than a dime.
10. Market animals will be released on Saturday at 4:00 pm.
11. A cleaning fee of $25.00 will be assessed to exhibitor for unclean stalls.
12. Deadline for disposition of all goats is 30 minutes after lamb showmanship.

DAIRY GOAT

- Entry Fee: $10.00 per head
- Classes will be determined by Goat Superintendent. There will be two divisions: Junior Doe- any doe under 24 months that has never been freshened. Senior Doe- any doe that has freshened or that is being milked regularly.
- Animals released on Saturday at 4:00 pm.
- A cleaning fee of $25.00 will be assessed to exhibitor for unclean stalls.
- Dairy goats must be in place by Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
- Dairy Goats will not sell in the Junior Livestock Auction.
